Mars GCC organizes seminar for teachers on health and nutrition in cooperation with Ministry of Education and Arab Center for Futrition

In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Arab Center for Nutrition, Mars GCC organized a seminar and workshop for schoolteachers on the subject of nutrition and physical activities in Saudi schools.

More than 150 teachers from schools in Jeddah and officials from the Ministry of Education and Mars GCC attended the event, which was held on Monday and Tuesday the 9th and 10th of March 2009 in the administration building of Dar Al Rowad Private School, Jeddah.

During the seminar Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mosaiger, President of the Arab Center for Nutrition, led the session by discussing important issues in the field of nutrition and physical activity related to school students and then conduct a workshop on how to design food programs and measure the nutritional status of the students

Dr. Al Mosaiger also discussed with the teachers subjects including unhealthy food habits and critical nutrition-related health issues that are present among school students such as obesity, apiculture and anemia, emphasizing importance of physical activity in treating such cases.

Another objective of the seminar is to contribute the prevention of malnutrition by presenting new information and updates on healthy dietary habits that will lead to a balanced nutrition culture in the Kingdom's schools.

Commenting on the occasion, abdulhakeem Al Hakeem, General manager of Mars GCC in the Saudi Arabia, said:

"This seminar and workshop is a continuation of the strategic partnership with the Arab Center for Nutrition, which we have formed in order to contribute our experience and expertise to raising public awareness of nutritional foods as the most important part of a balanced daily diet."


He went on to say: "In this particular seminar we are focusing on the role that the Kingdom's schoolteachers can play in educating their students on how to eat wisely for better health and wellbeing.
