The epitome of luxury afloat went on show in Abu Dhabi the capital of the United Arab Emirates today, when His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) officially opened the first Abu Dhabi Yacht Show (ADYS) and toured its multi-million dollar marina flotilla of SuperYachts.
The show features an indoor exhibition and a fleet of over 20 SuperYachts - some ranking among the biggest in the world - berthed at ADNEC's new Marina Zone. They include the architecturally-advanced, Wally Power - the 'stealth' of the waves and star of the James Bond movie 'Tomorrow Never Comes.'
Sheikh Sultan was welcomed onboard many of the elitist vessels. Sheikh Sultan said the show, which runs at ADNEC until Saturday night (March 14) marked the start of an intended "long and mutually successful relationships between all in the SuperYacht industry."
He added, "Abu Dhabi is advancing on the world tourism and major events stage and we believe we have a compelling proposition for the owners of SuperYachts as a berthing destination of choice. We have studied the industry in depth, regularly engage with it and listen keenly to its needs. The marina developments now underway in Abu Dhabi will demonstrate our ability to deliver superb infrastructure and facilities, best-in-class services and the management expertise needed to satisfy a demanding clientele. These facets, complemented by our premier geographic location, natural assets of stunning coastline and islands and luxurious onshore support facilities combine to produce a marine destination like no other in the region."
"Abu Dhabi is committed to delivering business and leisure experiences that enrich lives and I believe the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show demonstrates the strength of this commitment," Sultan said.
