Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rob Whelan, President of UOWD, said:
"UOWD has gained a strong reputation for high academic excellence in the region. The recipients of our merit scholarships, who were selected after taking their overall academic record into consideration, should be commended because this recognition reflects their past academic record and potential for further excellence."

Razan Iskandarani, a first semester student of Master of Quality Management, who received a full scholarship, said, "I joined UOWD after graduating in Medical Lab Technology from a Sharjah university, with a composite GPA of 3.89. I was accepted by two other universities but I chose UOWD because I found the teaching system better here. My goal is to work in the quality department of a hospital, after completing my Masters."

Hiba Haroon, another recipient of a full scholarship for the Bachelor of Business Administration program, said, "I qualified for the scholarship because I obtained 2 A stars and 5 A's at Al Nahda National School, Abu Dhabi. Getting a scholarship at such a prestigious university is indeed a great privilege for me, even though I have to travel from Abu Dhabi three times a week to attend classes."
