Patrimoine et créativité en Méditerranée brings together pioneers of the jewelry arena, fashion, textile design, and artisanship of the Mediterranean, welcoming in this year's running artists from the Arab World as well.

The exclusive event featured the showcasing of an impressive collection of clothing, jewelry, and textiles, all of which demonstrated the exceptional skill and talent of the artists in rendering an original and meaningful message through their craft.

Nadia Dajani was the representing artist of Jordan, and through a distinctive array of jewelry pieces of earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets, attempted to fully convey the cultural and historical heritage of Jordan to others in the international community.

In their Arabic typography which artistically intertwines with precious stones, fabrics, and other elements of the design, the pieces have truly been expressive of a rich historic tradition, as well as present messages of positive living and goodwill.

"As an Arab artist, I intended to bring to light the culturally-rich history of Jordan through my art and designs. It is an utmost honor to be the Jordanian participant in such a monumental event, and have the chance to exhibit the "Made in Jordan" designs here."

said Nadia Dajani.

The opening of the exhibition saw a host of activities that included musical intervals of Oriental and Arabic tradition, with the attendance of a large crowd of locals, international artists, and other influential personalities.

Jordan's booth attracted a considerable number of visitors who expressed their admiration at such exceptional and high-quality products of Jordanian jewelry industry. These jewelry pieces were then worn by models in the exhibition's fashion show of French and European designers.

This is the latest international contribution for Nadia Dajani, having already debuted at the International Jewelers Fair in London 2006, amongst others in Malaysia, the US, and Spain.

Notes and media contacts

Nadia studied architecture at University College London and participated in several architectural projects since leaving college, most notably the Jordanian Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover.

Nadia's passion for jewellery making and design led her architectural interests to take a back seat, designing with semi-precious stones in her unique way to create a distinctive style and unique pieces, many of which are influenced by Jordanian culture and tradition.

As the collections grew, these exclusive jewellery pieces became statements, representing traditional stories and heritage in a modern way and contributed to establishing a contemporary Jordanian style in jewellery. As demand for the designs grew and became more popular, at first with friends and later with a wider audience, the setting up of a flagship store at the InterContinental Hotel in Amman, Jordan, as a showcase for Nadia's designs and creations was inevitable, and she is now devoting herself to her greatest passion of creating beautiful and unique pieces.

Nadia Dajani's jewellery is not only a design and fashion house but is also a community project giving back to society on many levels. A strong advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility, Nadia Dajani set up a workshop in Amman which empowers women through training them in the art of jewellery-making.

All Nadia's jewellery is handmade in her workshop which so far employs over 20 women who have now become the breadwinners of their homes. They have been taught to create the most delicate and intricate pieces of jewellery, and their work has reached the highest standard and has been featured in many fashion magazines as well as in many celebrity pages.

In keeping with Nadia's belief in the empowerment of women and creating job opportunities, Nadia is currently working with Women for Women International, an international non-profit organization based in the USA in creating specially designed jewellery that will raise money for the Iraqi women in their joint 'Remember Me' program.

In keeping with her deep attachment to nature and the fact that Nadia draws her inspiration from so many of Jordan's natural wonders, it is fitting that Nadia's latest enterprise is working with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) creating specially designed items reflecting the Jordanian wildlife, countryside and resources.

All the work is being done by the RSCN' s workshops employing local people in their Conservation areas all over Jordan, ensuring that, as always, Nadia Dajani jewellery is giving something back to society.
