- PRESS RELEASE
Ghedex 2009 - the country's largest and highly reputed higher education show will once again bring in a wide range of international higher education options for students, young professionals and academic organizations, from April 8 to 10, 2009 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
Year after year, Ghedex has evolved as a platform for the national and international higher education markets in terms of academic education, training, internships and related career planning programs.
Ghedex is the first exhibition in Oman that has been awarded the accolade of an approved event of international stature by UFI - the global association of the exhibition industry.
Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director for Sales and Marketing of Oite, the event's organizer, cited that "Ghedex for the past 9 years contributed significantly to the education system in Oman. It opens a wide opportunity for students, parents, schools, institutes, colleges, and universities to gather under a single platform and discuss valuable information regarding higher education options in and outside of the country. The event likewise serves as an exceptional platform for everyone on the lookout for training and career opportunities."
Growing from strength to strength, Ghedex helps prepare students and parents on the educational and financial requirements of attending higher education institutions.
In recent years, Oman's higher education system has witnessed exponential growth, with an increase of 27.6% in the number of students enrolled at higher education institutions. The demand for high quality education standards has encouraged local universities and colleges to have strong affiliations with international institutions.
Ghedex 2009 will showcase the highly reputed colleges and universities from countries such as the UAE, the United Kingdom, Canada, Turkey, Ireland, India, New Zealand, Malaysia, among others. "Despite the economic downturn engulfing the region, we are pleased that exhibitors from the education institutions from such countries are looking at Oman as a growing market," Sadiq said.
Along with Ghedex, a conference on 'GCC Higher Education' is also set by Oite, which is aimed at gathering regional and international higher education leaders, government as well as senior executives in the business sector.
Ghedex 2009 is supported by the UNESCO, Amideast, The British Council and the UK Trade and Investment.
