Interiors and Buildex 2009 opens today

His Excellency Eng. Sultan bin Hamdoun bin Saif Al Harthy, Chairman of the Muscat Municipality, will be the chief guest at the official inauguration today - March 16 - of Interiors and Buildex 2009, the biggest event for the building and construction industry in Oman.

The international exhibition, which is scheduled until March 18 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, features over 200 exhibitors consisting of all leading companies in the sultanate as well as participants from up to 20 countries worldwide.

"This year's edition of the Interiors & Buildex is the biggest ever in terms of the total number of exhibitors, the amount of exhibition space covered, the number of countries represented, and the range of products and equipment on display,"


said C.J. Paul, general manager of Omanexpo LLC, the premier organiser of trade and consumer shows in the sultanate.

Today's formal opening ceremony will be attended by ministry officials, members of the diplomatic community, the top management of participating companies, other distinguished guests, and many industry professionals. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the chief guest together with all the visitors will then tour the exhibition to check out what's on display in the stalls.

Paul pointed out that Interiors & Buildex 2009 showcases all requirements of the building and construction industry, adding that the strong local and international participation this year ensures that industry professionals are sure to find everything they need in the exhibition. Specifically, the exhibition features a wide selection of building materials, construction equipment, interior furnishings, paint products, air conditioning systems, doors and windows, marble products, and bathroom fittings. Also on display are lighting fixtures, cement and concrete products, pipes and fittings, furniture, security systems, and hundreds of other products, many of which are being introduced for the first time here in Oman.

Interiors and Buildex 2009 is supported by Windows 2000 as the platinum sponsor, Panorama Windows Co. and Dosteen Doors and Engineering Services LLC as the gold sponsors, and IQue as the silver sponsor.

Other major local companies that are taking part in the exhibition include Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles Co., Al Hashar and Company, Al Turki Enterprises, Business and Trade, Innovation Building, International Kitchens, Kehlan Trading & Contracting, Mohammad Riaz & Partner, Muscat Electronics, Natural Stone Co., Nuhas Oman, Oman Concrete Products, Oman Modern Electronics, Oman Trading Establishment, Sadolin Paints (Oman) Ltd., Services & Trade Co., Shanfari & Partners, Speed House Building Construction, Stone & Marble International Co., and Technique LLC.

In addition to leading Omani companies, Interiors and Buildex also features the Turkish national pavilion with over 20 participating companies, the Kuwaiti pavilion made up of more than 15 companies, the UAE pavilion consisting of over 18 companies, as well as the national pavilions of Italy, Thailand and India. Other countries represented in the exhibition include Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.

Interiors and Buildex 2009 is officially endorsed by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), the Oman Society of Engineers, UK Trade & Investment, the German Industry and Commerce - Oman, Qatar and UAE, and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Muscat.

The international exhibition is also supported by Construction Week as the official publication, Arab Construction World as the official magazine, Architecture Plus as the official architecture and design partner, and Construction World as the international official magazine. The event's media partners are the OER Dossier-Construction, Al-Maskan Magazine, Times of Oman and Al Shabiba.
