- PRESS RELEASE
'Unlocking Innovative Leadership', first workshop in a series of Power Workshop successfully concluded on 5th March 2009.
The Innovative Leadership Workshop was specially designed to enable participants to reveal the creative and innovative talents within the company and develop their own system to motivate people to take the organisation to a higher performance level.
Commenting on the success of the Workshop, H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al-Khalifa said, "Unlocking Innovative Leadership echoes the spirit of the Young Arab Leader's. YAL's mission is to empower the youth and provide them with unique opportunities to enable them to move a step forward in their lives and create a better tomorrow. This highly interactive Workshop provided an opportunity, both to understand the strategic context of creativity and innovation and to develop the skills and attitudes intrinsic to creative and innovative thinking."
Global strategist, Dr. Partha Ghosh was the keynote speaker at the Workshop, which was attended by over 100 CEOs and representatives from public and private sectors of Bahrain over the three days.
During the three days, Dr. Ghosh discussed 'The New Capitalism - the role of the Middle East in the World Economy'. He talked about re-inventing the global economic model as we know of today in order to survive the current global economic meltdown. This reinvention of the future must lead to a new relationship between human and nature, which is not extractive but enriching, which is not consumption centric but conservation centric.
Dr. Ghosh further shed light on Strategic Problem Solving by Creating and Realising the Universe of Possibilities and the Arts and Sciences of Becoming a Leader: Mastering the dynamics of 3PIs (power of intellect, the power of interconnectivity and the power of intuition).
Sustainable business is no longer limited to efficiency, quality or even productivity. It is about creativity and innovation. The need to harness the collective creativity of people in order to grow and prosper in today's world.
Each individual is born with unique qualities. Dr. Ghosh focused on the importance of finding ways to identify, nurture, fine tune, and culture those exclusive qualities in order to enable the individual a meaningful and enriching role in the community he/she belongs.
The participants were encouraged to listen to their inner voice, uncover the power within and examine how to utilise the inner qualities to embrace the immense possibilities around.
"As a key sponsor of the YAL Power Speaker Series, we at Tamkeen were impressed with the very high standards set by the participants and their record of achievements. The creative energy and zest to achieve was palpable in the venue and it echoed our own efforts to create an environment conducive for change that will bring prosperity to our Kingdom and the region." said Tamkeen's Chief Executive Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi, "We are sure that such events will be the breeding ground for future success and innovation in the Arab world."
"The success of the recent YAL Power Speaker Series in Bahrain is an indicator of the potential of young Arab men and women to influence their society and it holds out the promise of a bright future for us all. Zain Bahrain is very happy to have sponsored the event because it resonates with the core values that we practice in our business - the Radiance of young people, the Heart that they represent in their potential to change the world and the Belonging that they express in embracing the cause of a better society, a better world," said Moahmmed Zain Alabedeen, GM of Zain.
"As sponsors, we too have learnt a lot about young leaders and what makes the new generation tick and that has been an eye-opener for our company which has always believed in the power of young people to change the world," he added.
According to Dr. Partha Ghosh, while the 3 day event was for young leaders in the region, he viewed the event as a dawn of a new beginning of the Leadership role Middle East must play in the world. In a world which is changing very rapidly, as leaders responsible for a nation's and/or business' future, their ability to (i) anticipate emerging trends, (ii) innovatively participate in them and (iii) solve complex issues as a result of convergence of technologies, to name a few are essential requirements. The programme has helped the participants develop the thinking and rationalizing habits which will help them innovatively blend discipline of analytical rigor with random search process for out of the box thinking.
Commenting on the role of YAL, Dr. Ghosh said, "It does suggest that it is a quality organization with a quality mission with quality members. I am hopeful of the important role this organization could play in the Arab world and the world at large. I do believe if YAL could fuse its youthful spirit, heritage of the region and the will to address global issues in fair and equitable fashion it could become a very relevant and revered force in the world."
By hosting workshops like - 'Unlocking Innovative Leadership', YAL Bahrain strives to make a difference in the daily and professional lives of the Arab youth.
YAL Bahrain is grateful to Zain and Tamkeen support to the first Power Speaker Series Workshop as the 'power partners'.
