Assisting Anna Lyczak-Czepukojc, Sas' UAE General Manager in giving the awards to the agents was His Excellency Bruno Beijer, the Ambassador of Sweden to the UAE.
"Our sales representatives and agents are truly important partners for our business here in this region though Sas Scandinavian Airlines flies only during the winter season on the Dubai-Copenhagen route,"
said Lyczak-Czepukojc.
"Their strong performance because of excellent market familiarity and good product knowledge were key ingredients for us to continue offering our winter season flights between October to March of the following year and for Sas to have confidence in this market.
"As the second winter season service concludes with its last flight out of Dubai on 27 March 2009, the Dubai-Copenhagen route shall continue on into its third season and resume on 28 October 2009, following the arrival of the flight from Copenhagen the day before," added Lyczak-Czepukojc.
The awardees have all had strong impact on the regional travel business contributing significantly to the country's economy. Abu Dhabi Travel Bureau has the unique distinction of being the oldest travel agency in the country and was established in 1966 in Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, Omeir Travel Agency, part of the renowned Omeir Bin Youssef Group, was set up in 1956 and is the UAE's largest travel management company, with over 58 outlets in different locations of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain.
In addition, Kanoo Travel is considered as the largest travel company in the Middle East operating a network of over 180 offices in the region, which in 1947 became the first IATA agency in the Gulf.
On the other hand, Al Rostamani Travel and Holidays is part of the Al Rostamani Group and has been a market leader in providing travel services in the UAE for more than 25 years, while
Al Badie Travel Agency, part of the Albadie Group, was founded in 1977.
"Having such distinguished and excellent performing agents as partners, together with Dnata, our General Sales Agent (GSA), we at Sas Scandinavian Airlines are optimistic that our business in this part of the world will grow even further in the coming years," concluded Lyczak-Czepukojc.
