AUB hosts a lecture on tobacco regulation and a symposium on the impacts of conflicts and wars on health

The Faculty of Health Sciences in hosting a lecture on tobacco regulation as well as a symposium on the impacts of conflicts and wars on health today.

Dr Ghazi Zaatari, the chair of the department of pathology and laboratory medicine, will be presenting a lecture on "Tobacco Product Regulation: Purpose, Process, and Progress," on March 18, at 12noon in Van Dyck Amphitheater.

The lecture is organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Later the same day, at 3pm, also in Van Dyck Amphitheater, the Center for Research on Population and Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences will host a three-day symposium on entitled "Understanding the Impact of Conflicts and Wars on Health."

The symposium is co-organized with the Council on Middle East Studies at Yale University on Conflict and Health in the Middle East and North Africa.

Presenters will include:
- Dr. Kaveh Khoshnood, Yale University
- Dr. Alissar Rady, World Health Organization (WHO) Beirut Office
- Dr. Sati Arnaout, Nahr al-Barid Reconstruction Unit at the Prime Ministers Office
- Mr. Hassan Ammar, the Islamic Health Society
- Dr. Mounir Mabsout, AUB, Ms. Aline Ghazar, AUB
