The aim of the event was to introduce DWC students to the customs and values of different cultures. The organizers said that this would enhance the knowledge of the students and broaden their perspective of the world.

The demonstration was conducted by the Exécutive Chefs Takahashi and Ishii from Kisaku Restaurant, one of the most popular Japanese restaurants in Dubai. Mr. M. Kumagai from Summit Trading Company who attended the demonstration said

"Sushi is the most popular Japanese cuisine outside Japan. Ingredients are vinegared rice with raw fish or vegetable. This cooking class is one of the Oishi Nippon Promotions meant for UAE nationals to familiarize with the Japanese food"

Chefs Takahasi and Ishii introduced the students to the various ingredients used in preparing Sushi and explained the origin of the term. The Chefs spoke about the great care taken in preparing and presenting Sushi to the customer. They also mentioned that Sushi is a work of art as much as a food, and while it is now available in a 'quick and easy' serving style, the traditional ways are still far from lost.

Students were curious throughout the demonstration and found it interesting and entertaining. They were also given a chance to try their hands on making Sushi while the Chefs were around. One of the students commented that "the most exciting part was learning a new thing and doing it at the same time, not just watching them doing it. I recommend it to others because it was so much fun"
