Eng. Saad Bin Dhafer demonstrates broadband future and telecommunications leading role in spreading broadband services in the Kingdom

Through its widespread Afaq DSL service, at the level of the Kingdom, accessing more than 1m customers; a matter that places the Kingdom at the forefront of the region's countries, in terms of the number of DSL lines, and the provision of real high-speed Internet to more than 5m users throughout the Saudi Kingdom.

Needless to say, such accomplishment is a distinctive achievement of Saudi Telecom in the area of Broad Band services, and a true support to the society in the implementation of several services and tasks through the use of Internet, taking advantage of all its various scientific, cultural and technical products.

The above occurred within the scientific paper given by Al-Qahtani in the Broadband Global Summit held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, during the period 10-11 March 2009, with the participation of 200 companies specialized in telecommunications, along with 12 lecturers from business leaders, executives and experts in the field of telecommunications and information technology.

During his lecture, Al-Qahtani highlighted the efforts exerted by Saudi Telecom in pumping huge investments in constructing a strong and broad infrastructure, in addition to implementing several expansions projects of advanced electronic booths and new access networks which exceeded about 80 thousand km of fiber glass network, reaching to the neighborhood and homes of Saudi Telecom customers, which provides Afaq DSL Shamel customers with safer and more effective Internet speed, in addition to launching several services and attractive offers for the service, confirming the company's continuity in exerting further efforts to provide the best and latest services, so as to increase the number of clients and provide them with higher quality and speed Internet service through Afaq DSL Shamel, with the lowest cost, especially after the significant reductions effected by STC recently, amounting to 70% for high speeds.
