Netgear launches 'ReadyNAS Vault' to address growing demand
- Middle East: Thursday, March 19 - 2009 at 11:48
- PRESS RELEASE
The small and medium businesses (SMB) market is projected to account for up to 80% of businesses in the Middle East by 2011, according to research firm IDC, with the rapid growth of the sector expected to drive its IT spending more than 33%.
Available for all versions of the award-winning family of 'ReadyNAS' products, 'ReadyNAS Vault' is designed to give consumers and SMBs a simple enterprise-class solution for Internet-based data protection.
Easy-to-use and cost-effective, the new online backup service is built right into all 'ReadyNAS' systems to help copy data to a world-class storage facility and recover information from any web browser and any internet location, while eliminating the need for additional infrastructure or upgrades. In addition, the service also allows backup jobs, individual 'ReadyNAS' systems and recovery tasks, to be centrally located in an online console, making managing multiple locations and jobs far simpler.
"As data becomes even more critical, consumers and businesses alike are increasingly interested in internet 'cloud-based' storage as added insurance for their own storage infrastructure. However, consumers and SMBs have historically lacked the necessary expertise and resources to do so, despite having just as pressing a need as larger businesses," said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, Netgear Middle East. "With the 'ReadyNAS Vault' service, NETGEAR is the first to solve this issue by seamlessly linking cloud-based storage with the entire family of 'ReadyNAS' devices."
In addition to an online interface, which confirms that backups have taken place, and enables users to change backup tasks and recover critical files from any location, the solutions' SMB-specific features include its own continuous data protection options.
This involves real-time updates in the back-up processes with options for the jobs to run at specific intervals, thereby providing immediate protection for new or modified files, easy mobility and complete control over bandwidth consumption and system usage. Furthermore, SMBs can also appreciate the service's fast data recovery and security features, with 128-bit SSL transfer connections ensuring that data is kept private and secure during transmission and 256-bit AES encryption delivering additional protection while it sits on cloud storage systems.
"Today's economic condition has made cost effective disaster recovery services crucial to the operations of SMBs, and this is an opportunity, which we are aiming to leverage. We are proud to be bringing this cost-effective, high-performance and reliable service to the SMB markets who are steadily adopting disaster recovery and business continuity solution, as part of their IT infrastructure," Ahmad Zeidan added.
"By offering a simple and affordable way for these companies to make backup to an offsite data centre for both consumers and SMBs, we are in turn supporting the growth of regional SMBs, who are effectively stimulating the region's economy," concluded Zeidan.
