Mall of the Emirates hosts its annual retailer awards ceremony this week

Eleven leading retailers beat off stiff competition from over 450 other stores at the Annual Retailer Awards at Mall of the Emirates this week.

The exclusive ceremony, now in its third year, presented accolades in 12 different categories and were based on various excellence criteria such as sales performance, operational compliance and customer service.

The retailers who won the coveted awards included Rivoli Watches who walked away with the 'Retailer of the Year' and the Best Jewellery & Watch Store titles while Carrefour and Bugatti were named as the 'Best Anchor Store' and the 'Best Flagship Store' respectively.

Among the individual categories, Mango bagged the award for the Best Large Fashion Store and Christian Dior for the Best Small Fashion Store. Butcher Shop & Grill were named Best Food & Beverage Outlet while Jacky's Express was the Best Electronics & Entertainment Store. Mont Blanc won in Best Leather Goods, Homeware & Gift Store group, The Body Shop in Best Health & Well-Being Store, Nike in the Best Footwear & Sports Store and Accessorize in the Best Optical Accessories & Service Store.

The event, attended by senior mall management and retailers, also included a presentation by retail expert, Rob Sadler, on "when the going gets tough, people go shopping". His speech highlighted the steps retailers need to take to find opportunities and make the most of the challenging economic situation.
