Board meeting of ITA's held today

The Board of directors of the Information Technology Authority (ITA) held a meeting of its board of directors under the auspices of H.E. Mohammed Nasser Al-Khasibi, Chairman of ITA on the 21st of March 2009.
The appointment of the internal audit committee of ITA, along with its mandate was reviewed and approved. Discussions were held about continuing the cooperation with Microsoft through the Memorandum of Understanding. Gartner's review of the eOman strategy was also presented before the board.
A proposal for rebranding eOman in engagement with an International company was presented for board's consideration. The eServices Awareness campaign plan was also presented at this meeting for appraisal. Presentations about key projects of ITA such as the Government e-Services Portal and the PC Initiative were shown for the board's review.
This was followed by an update of the Government IT Training program which has already commenced to train and certify over 93000 civil staff in digital literacy.
This program aims to build capacity within the public sector employees in using Information and Communication Technology to realize his majesty's vision of building human resource capacity of the Sultanate. The meeting ended with an official tour of the board members to the newly established national data center at Knowledge Oasis Muscat.
