"The All New Honda City has been in our showrooms for just 4 weeks but it's already proved to be a top-seller. It's actually outselling our forecasts which is remarkable in the current global economic climate."
"The showroom managers and sales people have discussed at length how well it's performing and essentially they feel it's down to the fact that the All New Honda City is very much the right car at the right time. It's a well-designed and well-priced quality vehicle that's economical to run. It ticks all the right boxes," Turner adds.
Hawashil Al Hadidi, Nizwa Showroom Manager, says, "From the feedback we're getting it's also clear that people are placing a premium on the fact that Honda's hold their value and do well on the resale market. We can definitely see that customers are thinking ahead more - they're asking lots of questions about the cost of service and repairs and factoring that into their calculations. Honda after-sales repair and service is superb all over the sultanate and that's a big plus point for us."
"And then of course there's the Honda City itself," continues Turner. "It's very attractive with its 'arrow shot form' and distinctive sporty look. It's surprisingly roomy inside and of course has the state-of-the-art in-car entertainment system you'd expect from Honda. People who've taken it out for a test drive have commented in particular on its solid road handling over the entire speed range. I think everyone has noticed the upgraded air-conditioning too!"
Other factors the National Sales Manager considers to be driving the demand for the City are the combination of power and fuel efficiency provided by its 1.5L, 4 cylinder new generation i-VTEC engine and its unique 5 speed automatic transmission. Honda always gives safety paramount importance and the All New City has an impressive suite of safety features as standard. These include ABS brakes, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution and dual SRS airbags.
Turner notes that like other Honda models the All New City focuses on addressing environmental and energy issues. "Not only does the New City deliver excellent fuel economy but it also reduces environmental impact by minimizing usage of metals like lead, mercury and cadmium. I'm also pleased to say that PVC is not used in any part of the New City and like all Honda's since 2002 over 90% of the whole car can be recycled."
"Honda have absolutely got it right with the All New City," affirms Turner. "It's setting the pace and I'm sure it'll continue to do so for some time to come."
