DTCM wins award at Moscow Tourism and Travel Exhibition

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has won an award for the destination promotion stand for Dubai at the 16th edition of the Moscow International Travel and Tourism (MITT) which concluded on Sunday.
The stand attracted a large number of visitors at the show which has seen the participation of 3000 exhibitors from 118 countries.
The award for Best Destination Presentation took into consideration the overall participation, including the size and design of the stand, the number of participants, quality of brochures and other promotional materials.
Mr. Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, DTCM Executive Director Media Relations and Acting Director of Business Development, received the award consisting of a certificate and a memento, from Mr. Sergey Gorskiy, Director of ITE, organizers of the MITT, in the presence of the other members of the DTCM delegation- Mr. Abdullah bin Suwaidan, DTCM Deputy Director of Overseas Promotions, Mr. Talal Al Suwaidi, DTCM Head of India, Middle East and North Africa Section at Overseas Promotions, and Mr. Sergey G. Kanaev, Director of DTCM Representative Office for Russia, CIS & Baltic States.
Mr. Eyad said the DTCM's aggressive promotional and marketing agenda has been well received by the travel and tourism industry players in different parts of the world, including Russia, which remains a major source market for Dubai's tourism industry. Dubai was the partner destination for the MITT-2009 and DTCM operates a representative office in Moscow since the past 13 years, covering the Russian, CIS and Baltics markets.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony in the presence of H.E Omer Saif Ghobash, UAE ambassador to Russia, Mr. Eyad said Dubai's strong participation in this exhibition reflects the importance DTCM and its industry partners attach to the Russian market.
Dubai hotels posted high record revenues of over $4.1bn and 15.9% increase in number of rooms in 2008. Dubai hotels played host to an estimated 487,000 visitors from Russia/CIS/Baltics in 2008 which is 15% more compared to 2007 with 473,037 visitors.
A wide range of promotional literature, including publications in Russian language, were made available at the Dubai Stand, which remained the cynosure of all eyes at the MITT, one of the world's top five travel and tourism fairs. There was strong interest from the Russian media in Dubai and its tourism product offerings.
