The scope of the multi-million dirham project includes design, engineering, manufacturing, delivery to project site, installation, site testing and commissioning of the water treatment plant on a turnkey basis. The cutting-edge plant will treat desalinated water, which will then supply Qidfa power plant with water for the boilers, generating power for Fujairah.
The project is on track, with the skids assembly now under advanced stage of completion. Mobilization to the site is scheduled to start this month, in close co-ordination with Alstom.
Utilizing advanced technology, desalinated water within the plant is passed through micron filters to the three mixed bed polishers. Regeneration waste water is treated with hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide chemicals to neutralize the PH effect, and is then stored in a neutralization pit to minimize hazardous waste.
Bassem Halabi, group business development director for Metito, said the project - being carried out in record time - highlighted Metito's excellence in the demineralization business.
"We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project and to assist with power production in Fujairah. The plant is at the forefront of technology and we are proud to be leading the way in the demineralization industry."
Bassem Halabi said.
In line with Metito's commitment as a socially responsible company, the plant will follow stringent health and safety policies. Metito's dedication to the environment is well supported by the emirate of Fujairah, which is keen to promote itself as a destination for eco-tourism.
