From its celestial style to its specifications, the R58 orbits around extensive Internet use, multimedia mastery, and fashion-forward design.

Intel's Montevina platform and Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset, complete web-conferencing arsenal, and premium SRS TruSurround sound system deliver an out-of-this-world gaming, video, VoIP, and Internet experience.

"The Joybook R58 is fully tailored to reflect the personality and needs of its target user. Everything from its carefully fashioned aesthetics to the full-sized ergonomic keyboard and multimedia-centric specifications is geared specifically to today's Internet-savvy consumer," said Manish Bakshi General Manager of BenQ in MEA region. "Our extensive studies on user behavior, style preferences, and needs are wholly reflected in the R58, making it a cool and trendy personal statement."

Superb features highlight the Joybook R58's multimedia prowess. High-resolution images on the brilliant 220-nit 15.4' WXGA screen dazzle with patented UltraVivid technology for unparalleled visual magnificence. Additional DBEF (Display Brilliance Enhancement Film) dramatically increases brightness, while a low-reflectivity, anti-glare coating ensures deeply saturated colors and crisp image definition whether indoors or lounging at an outdoor café.

Featuring SRS TruSurround HD, SRS Headphone 360, and SRS Dialog Clarity, the R58's audio virtualization system further ensures exquisite sound lucidity for maximum enjoyment of music, gaming, video, and web chatting.

Intel's Montevina platform likewise magnifies multimedia applications with Advanced Digital Media Boost, Full HD video quality, Intel Clear Video Technology, full DX10 support, and Windows Vista Premium Certification. Integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam with Magic-i Visual Effects and WebCam Companion 2, plus built-in microphone, 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b/g WiFi support, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR all promote spontaneous anytime, anywhere Internet connection. A full-size alphanumeric keyboard with extra-large keys for 20% larger fingertip area is likewise thoughtfully engineered for typing ease whether working on documents or chatting online.

When it comes to tailoring the Joybook to the multimedia/Internet consumer, BenQ invested equal consideration into the R58's distinctive style. Enveloped in a glossy, deep-space black glistening with 'stardust,' the R58's lid captures the awe and wonder of the galaxy, which in turn represents the immensity of the Internet universe.

The Joybook represents a portal that connects each person to millions of people in the world; like stars connecting in the constellations. A metallic band across the lid, etched with a pattern of interconnecting circles and lines, further symbolizes the rapid communication/connection between people around the world, made possible by modern technology. A woven-texture palm rest completes the R58's stellar style while providing a more intimate tactile experience.
