IATA appoints new Regional Director of Membership and Industry Affairs in the Middle East

Dr. Majdi Sabri, former Vice President of Royal Jordanian Airlines, has been appointed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as Regional Director of Membership and Industry Affairs in the Middle East.

Dr Sabri will take over from Mr Khaled Mahdi who is retiring at the end of August 2001.

Dr. Sabri holds a Ph.D in Air Transport Economics and Planning from the United Kingdom and is a Fellow of the British Chartered Institute of Transport.

Prior to his services with Royal Jordanian, Dr. Sabri also worked as Director of Planning at Jordan's Civil Aviation Authority. He also served as Air Transport Consultant for the United Nations and holds Al-Istiqlal Medal.

The Amman-based IATA Middle East office serves more than thirty airlines within a region extending from Morocco to Pakistan, as well as to other airlines and travel agents serving the region.

Office activities include following up on membership and industry affairs, operations and infrastructure, and distribution and agency relations.
