"We are going to switch off our façade lighting and all electrical appliances inside unoccupied rooms in our two properties - Samaya Hotel in Deira and Samaya Hotel Apartments,"
disclosed Samaya Hotel and Resorts CEO Ghassan Jaber.
Samaya Hotel Deira is a 16-story modern architectural designed building near major Dubai government offices, namely Dubai Municipality, Economic Department, and Tourism and Commerce Marketing, as well as Dubai Chambers.
It recently celebrated its first year last January with an extended weekend package for all overnight guests by offering early check-in and late check-out in its 35 suites for Dhs600 only.
"Being part of the Dubai community, especially located within major government offices we want to be one with everyone in helping solve the continuing global climate change," Jaber said. Dubai was the first Arab city to declare its support for Earth Hour in 2008.
Jabber added: "We will also post a message in the TV entertainment system to turn off the set if a guest watches between 8:30 to 9:30 pm on March 28."
The other property is Samaya Hotel Apartments which is located right next to the Sahara Center at the Dubai-Sharjah border. It has 200 one-bedroom fully-furnished apartments currently being offered for Dhs60,000 for yearly tenants.
