AMG has mobilized its three newspapers, three television stations with customized programming as seen on Noor Dubai, and eight radio stations to ensure that UAE residents are informed about Earth Hour 2009, a simple yet effective way to reinforce that action against climate change is possible and within everyone's reach.

Abdulwahed Juma, Chief Commercial Officer of AMG said, "We are proud to stand behind Dubai Municipality and other corporate partners as a media partner for this initiative. We believe it is essential for the media to be informed about the crucial issue of climate change, and furthermore to be thought-leaders when it comes to seeking ways for saving our planet."

"The UAE has the largest environmental footprint in the world, that is why we as a group, we strongly support enviromental intiattives that mobilize the community. This weekend gives us an opportune moment to make a start with something as simple as switching off the lights and participating in a country-wide campaign to conserve energy," he added.

Last year, when Dubai became the first Arab city to participate in Earth Hour by virtue of its time zone, electricity consumption in the city was reduced by more than 100,000kwH during the one hour power down.
