Emirates Motor Company (EMC), Mercedes-Benz General Distributor of Daimler Middle East & Levant in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and the flagship company of Al Fahim Group, for the fifth consecutive year is carrying out an aggressive campaign on road safety to aid the Department of Traffic and Patrol Police tackle the spiraling rise of fatal road accidents.

"Our Body & Paint Centre at EMC repaired around 2,000 vehicles in 2008, a combination of light and heavy accidents, to a major part not of heir own fold. We need to help drivers comprehend that we share the road with other drivers and pedestrians. Talking on the mobile phone, overtaking in prohibited areas, driving indecently on the road and improperly seating children in child seats, should all be taken seriously as they are the main causes of grave accidents,"

warned Mr. Irfan Tansel, General Manager of EMC.

Various communication channels are being utilized to reach the mass and advise them on how to react in perilous circumstances on the road.

Through EMC's corporate road safety campaign, and in line with Al Fahim Group's values of Humanity and Substance, the company is committed to support the police in controlling traffic accidents and their tragic aftermaths.

Starting with school children, the award-winning children's book on road safety called Fun After School, Kool Kids by EMC has been distributed across many schools in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain this month. The short paperback narrates a story about a boy named Karim and his little sister Sarah who meet their friends after school.

The journey to their destination illustrates how to behave as pedestrians, as well as passengers. EMC sincerely believes that it is part of a child's education to learn about road safety as it becomes embedded in their minds and, as a result, remarkably influencing their behavior on the road as adults.

"According to the Traffic Department of Abu Dhabi, road accidents have dropped by 18% since 2007 in the capital. This truly demonstrates the effectiveness of public awareness campaigns and encourages corporations to continue supporting year-round initiatives by our local authorities. The aim of our annual CSR Road Safety program is to reach international road safety standards in our streets and secure the lives of our children," communicated Mr. Tansel.

As the first Mercedes-Benz distributor in the Middle East to be awarded the ISO 9002 certification, EMC focuses its efforts on being a reliable service and providing the best in quality.

The goal this year is to enlighten the public on the significance of road safety and how it can be easily achieved.
