Chillout announces participation of Award winning comedian Omid Djalili at 1st edition of Dubai Comedy Convention

Omid Djalili is an award-winning British-Iranian actor/comedian. Not only acclaimed as one of Britain's funniest stand up comedians, he has also featured in films including 'The Mummy', 'Gladiator', 'Spy Game', 'Modigliani', 'Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow', 'Casanova'.

On TV he did two seasons of 'Small Potatoes' on Channel 4. In the States he signed a talent holding deal with NBC in 2002 and co-starred with Whoopi Goldberg in her sitcom 'Whoopi' which ran from 2003-04. In 2007, Omid has been commissioned to do his own series for BBC1.

It all started in the 1990's after great success at the Edinburgh Festivals with a one-man theatre piece, when Omid became a festival favorite with a string of sell-out comedy shows.

His international appeal is vast, having performed in Australia, Austria, USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Slovakia to name a few. He is definitely one of the funniest, freshest and most original comedians in Britain today.

Commenting on his first Middle East appearance, Omid Djalili said, "Dubai?! Thought I was going to Mumbai to shoot 'Slumdog Fat Fighters.' I need to speak to my agent."

Omid will headline the opening night of the Dubai Comedy Convention on April 22nd, 2009 at Dubai Media City Amphitheater.

The same night will feature appearances of the master impressionist Rob Magnotti who is one of the busiest guys on the stand-up circuit, and Kirk Fox.
