Zighy Bay plans to turn off as many energy consuming items as possible across the property during Earth Hour, to help reduce energy consumption.

The resort will be swathed by the magnificent glow of candlelight, although guests and staff will be provided with torches, which looks to make the evening a truly unforgettable and fun experience.

An evening of tranquillity will be taking place, as guests will be treated to a special BBQ by the poolside, filled with candlelight and sumptuous food from the organic garden. And for those wishing to experience a truly Zen experience, candlelit yoga will be conducted on the spa pavillion (by Zighy Bay's yoga instructors).

Six Senses core purpose is to create innovative and enlightening experiences that rejuvenate our guests' love of SLOW LIFE*

The values communicated in the SLOW LIFE commitment, positions Six Senses as the leader in providing sustainable tourism options for consumers, suppliers and partners. From the use of building materials and finishes from sustainable and local sources wherever possible, to the quality and origin of the food that is offered, and to the innovative experiences that not only are fun, but also heighten guest's knowledge.

Reduction of carbon footprints that result from transporting goods over long distances is a prime component of SLOW LIFE, as is the sourcing of prime produce from local communities. Chemical free organic options also result in more wholesome offerings and enhanced flavours. Keeping guests informed of these initiatives teaches them how to reflect the philosophy into their own lives, and how these intelligent alternatives benefits them individually, and our planet as a whole.

Speaking of the initiative Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay General Manager Rochelle Kilgariff commented "We wanted to show our commitment to the environment as well as to lead the way in showing individuals and businesses how easy it is to make a difference in the fight against global warming, which is something that affects us all and our future generations.

She added:
"Zighy Bay is one of the region's natural beauties that we'd like to see preserved for the local community. We're therefore thrilled to be able to contribute to Earth Hour, to help push the environmental agenda even further, whilst creating a unique opportunity for our guests and hosts to support the cause, along with thousands of others around the world."

A traditional Arabic experience will also be enjoyed within the grounds of the resort where hosts of the resort can enjoy food with some live music performed by host volunteers, lit only by candles and the moonlight.

Kilgariff concluded: "We take our commitment towards helping the environment very seriously, and are looking forward to showing our support to Earth Hour. We're urging people to come and join us on this memorable occasion; helping the environment, with a flick of a switch."
