Training workshops launched during UAE Careers 2009

With the inauguration of the 9th edition of the UAE Career fair, opening today at the Dubai World Trade Center, an agreement of understanding was signed between The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

The agreement lays down executing and carrying out training workshops for UAE Nationals seeking job opportunities in both the public and the private sectors.

The agreement involves conducting different activities that aim at preparing and qualifying UAE Nationals, improving their skills and guiding them on choosing a suitable career opportunity that offers them potential growth and development. The agreement was signed by Mr. Marwan Bin Beyat - General Manager of The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Mr. Essa Al Mulla - Executive Director of National Workforce Development on behalf of The Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA).

Bin Beyat mentioned the aim of the agreement and said:
"Signing this agreement with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority was based on the direction of HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed to continually provide support to young UAE Nationals in all sectors and to give them an opportunity to understand the needs of the job market and specifically under the current economic situation and its effect on the job market."


"Job seekers today have to understand the challenge that lies ahead of them and the importance of developing their skills and capabilities to be able to stand out and attract employers. Our participation aims at providing Emiratis the pathway to reaching their potential in any sector and specifically their career. Hence, we have brought in experts in Human resources, development and training to conduct evaluations and assessments for these job seekers and offer them advice on the best ways to improve and use their skills to achieve career growth," Bin Beyat added.

During the 3 day event there will be workshops as well on how to choose the best and most suitable career opportunity according to personality, skills and talents and how to make sure that job seekers are improving their knowledge and achieving career growth and prosperity.

Essa Al Mulla, Executive Director of National Workforce Development, said:
"These training programs are one of many initiatives to empower UAE nationals and integrate them within the various sectors and it is aligned directly with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, to provide the UAE job market with qualified Emiratis through providing top-notch trainings and opportunities to develop skills sets and talents that will join both the Public and Private sectors."


Some of the planned activities that will be carried out in Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed's Pavilion at the UAE Career Fair are; conducting mock-up interviews that will help fresh graduates understand the expectations of employers when conducting job interviews, as well as training workshops on preparing for interviews, professional CVs and outlining success factors in seeking career growth. A self assessment test called "15FQ" will also be conducted on the stand and it helps job seekers understand their capabilities, strengths, weaknesses and areas of improvement much better.
