State-of-the-art stage set up, world-class video and the highest quality sound and light accompanied a stellar performance from Coldplay. The organizers built two stage thrusts enabling Chris Martin to take his high energy performance to within touching distance of the ecstatic crowd.
The concert is now being audited to calculate the event's total carbon footprint, and will soon be offset by event organizers Flash, in partnership with leading environmental partners Enviromena and Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) -WWF. The initiative to offset carbon emissions generated at the event coincided with Earth Hour 2009, and the EWS-WWF 'Heroes of the UAE campaign', which encourages individuals to make an ongoing commitment to save energy and fight climate change. Short films on the initiative were shown to the crowd and concert goers were given a specially made wristband featuring the Heroes of the UAE campaign's website address.
Speaking on the night John Lickrish, Managing Director of Flash, commented;
"This has been a night of firsts for Flash and the city; Coldplay's first concert in the region; our first weekend of back-to-back major concerts; and the first time anyone has offset the carbon footprint of a music concert in the UAE. Judging by the musical spectacular provided by Coldplay, the flawless visual show and the crowd's response; we have again demonstrated our continued commitment to providing premium live entertainment experiences for people across the region. We are delighted with another sell-out show and look forward to more of the same in 2009'
