Consolidated Gulf Co records 32% growth

Consolidated Gulf Co, the leading IT, telecom and engineering conglomerate and the Nokia partner for Qatar, has recorded 32% growth for year 2008 with its revenue surging to QR680m against the previous financial year's 515m.

Its annual results showed significant growth in many key indicators with the company's business substantially growing in all technology domains.

CGC's telecom, IT and engineering businesses helped the technology giant consolidate its leading position in the local market.

Announcing the company's solid performance, Anil Mahajan, COO, said,

"We are happy to register substantial growth in different business streams. Our excellence and commitment were reflected in the company's successfully completing several existing projects in telecom and enterprise solutions domains and winning many new prestigious projects in the areas of intrusion detection and monitoring, CAD, CAM, GIS, IT, telecom, security, building technologies, electricity network optimization solutions, marine solutions to name a few."


During the year, the company widened its vast portfolio of technology offerings and commenced providing total enterprise solutions, including Networking, Security Solutions, IP Telephony, IPTV and Video & Audio Conferencing.

Mahajan further informed that CGC's TETRA Division achieved another milestone by scoring a century of its clients ranging from big MNCs to local companies from oil & gas sector to airlines, security, construction and many more.

On the company's flagship Nokia business, Mahajan said,"Our Nokia unit managed to keep its momentum with average quantity sales maintaining a healthy graph. Many new initiatives were taken to offer Nokia phones at reasonable prices in people's neighbourhood. We added another outlet to our kitty with the grand opening of a CGC-Nokia branch at popular Hyatt Plaza mall, besides franchising many new dealer partners, now totaling about 380. We also gave a refreshing look to our CGC-Nokia showroom at Al Najada."

"Giving top priority to the after-sales needs of customers, we opened a new Nokia Care center at Al Najada souq and upgraded our Al Sadd Nokia Care Center besides extending the working hours at our Main Service Center in Al Merqab. CGC came out with many customer-friendly promotional offers in partnership with Qtel, Qatar Airways, Domasco, Centrepoint, etc. bundling Nokia phones with goods and services at affordable rates. Our efforts were formally recognized by principal partner Nokia, which bestowed on us the 3rd consecutive Best Nokia Distributor Award in entire MEA region. To meet clients' needs, we increased investment in our all technology divisions and operations focusing on the up-gradation of existing facilities, setting new infrastructure and getting new equipments in place", Mahajan added.

Furthermore, the company paid great attention to its human resources, organizing several technical and soft skills development trainings to hone the knowledge and expertise of its personnel.

Speaking on the key features of 2009's business plan, Mahajan said: "We are fairly loaded with a number of projects and looking forward to meet clients' needs in the best possible way. We are very optimistic, enthusiastic and fully committed to achieve more successes in 2009. There is also plan to expand our business further to other countries in the region", he added.
