Wataniya cooks up biggest pasta in history

Wataniya Restaurants dished up a Wataniya Pasta weighing an enormous 4,300 kilograms at Golf Club Doha on Saturday to set a new Guinness World Record for the 'Biggest Pasta in History'.

The 2-metre wide, 6-metre long Wataniya Pasta, prepared using tasty Sbarro pasta, surpassed the previous Guinness World Record Pasta by more than 1,000 kilograms.

"Wataniya served up 4,300 kilos of delicious Sbarro pasta and the Guinness World Record is now held by Qatar,"

declared a proud Nasser Beydoun, CEO of Doha-based Wataniya Restaurants Q.S.C.

"Today's Wataniya Pasta world record proves how devoted Sbarro is to serving the biggest pasta meals," added Nasser Beydoun. "Every Sbarro restaurant in Qatar always serves the largest, freshest plates of pasta made from 100% nutritious ingredients, as well as tasty pizza, healthy salads and delicious desserts."

Excited Gulf Club visitors and media representatives also witnessed a second world record for Qatar, as the 1,730-meter long 'Wataniya Sandwich' smashed the Guinness World Record for Longest Sandwich in the World.

Chefs and volunteers labored for 10 days to prepare the 500 kilograms of cold cuts, mushrooms, onions, garlic, spices and bread to make the 1.73-km (1.1-mile) Wataniya Sandwich a world record snack.

Qatar's leader in authentic Italian cuisine, Wataniya Restaurants now has 9 Sbarro restaurants serving the biggest plates of pasta in Qatar. Royal Plaza (Al Sadd Street), Centerpoint (Jawaan Street 447 7780), Al Mana Petrol Station (Salwa Road 451 6162), Abou Hamour Petrol Station (421 6868), Al Rayyan (Shaffi Street 414 1138), Ras Bou Abboud (Al Imadi Complex B Ring Road 444 0402), Wakra (Abdelrahman bin Jasem Street - Hospital roundabout), Khor (Facing QNB) and Tibah Petrol Station (Kheraytiayat 421 3399).
