Lights at Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Knowledge Village, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Outsource Zone, Dubai Studio City, International Media Production Zone, Enpark and DuBiotech, were switched off for the duration of Earth Hour 2009, a worldwide campaign spearheaded by World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Marking their participation in Earth Hour 2009, Tecom Investments' staff members joined other organizations and individuals including its parent company Dubai Holding for an awareness-raising initiative at The Walk in Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Bader Al Zarei, Acting Executive Director Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Tecom Investments, said:
"Earth Hour 2009 was truly a unique event as it saw diverse groups of people come together for the wellbeing of our planet. We participated in this initiative as we considered it not only our priority but also because of our strong belief that saving the planet is not a one-off annual activity but a permanent lifetime choice for every individual and corporation."

Tecom Investments also encouraged thousands of business partners and their employees to follow its lead and demonstrate their contribution to reducing global warming through adopting simple steps for saving energy at home and at work.

Tecom Investments and its business parks have taken the lead in reducing their carbon footprint by launching an ambitious initiative in 2008 to annually reduce carbon emissions by 1,338 tonnes. It has also implemented a series of water and energy saving measures across all its entities.
