Dubai Customs is considered one of the key government organizations supporting the emiratization with a percentage of 77%. This career fair comes on top of the other fairs and events in which Customs takes part throughout the year, and is the ideal place to meet with graduates who are about to start their professional carrier or willing to improve it. Those citizens would have the opportunity to interact with the Human Resources officials and experts and discuss with them through arranged sessions the wide range of available jobs as well as their professional development options.
It is worth mentioning that Dubai Customs was able through the previous sessions to provide a large number of jobs for the newly graduates.
In addition to meeting with HR officials, Customs has prepared a large volume of job guides which would be available for all graduates and students at the fair covering all Customs divisions, departments and sections. This would inevitably consolidate its efforts aiming at developing the Human Resources and implementing major aspects of its 2007-2011 strategic plan objectives to increase the emiratization by 2% annually.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Saleh, Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at Dubai Customs, said:
"Dubai Customs is working on the emiratization of all jobs through its participation in this annual event addressed to all citizens and other fairs which it organizes and sponsors in collaboration with Higher Technology Colleges and universities. The "Open Day" which took place on the 25th of December was the latest fair which Dubai Customs organized and where the HR had the opportunity to meet with all citizens who have submitted applications to join work at Customs and examine their CVs. Those applicants were interviewed on that day by 3 committees where 80 of them were chosen out of 110."
As part of Dubai Customs current efforts, "the total recruited national manpower in 2008 was 70% and Customs is currently asking universities to send lists of their graduates with the appropriate specializations for related job opportunities and we also seeking to provide employment opportunities for people with special needs of citizens and in proportion to the vacancies available," Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Saleh added.
In addition to the type of job vacancies highlighted during the Career fair, Customs also informs all the graduates and visitors looking for job opportunities about the training programs provided for all employees throughout the year. These programs are divided into introductory training courses for the newly recruited employees, general courses for orientation and competency improvement as well as specialization courses inside and outside Customs targeted to improving job skills.
On the other hand, Customs provide scholarships for certain diplomas as well as other incentives which help in attracting UAE national competencies.
Finally, UAE national graduates who would be visiting the career fair can submit their application forms manually or by e-mail through the internet.
