Dubai is the hub for medical conferences and exhibitions in the Arab World

Scientific activities continued for the second consecutive day at DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition.

While the number of visitors reached 9000 participants in the conference and exhibition for the first day, the number is expected to reach 15000 participant by the end of day three on Tuesday the 31st of march 2009.

is the theme of the second day, Dr. Ali AL Sayed, Director of Pharmaceutical Services Department, at the Dubai Health Authority and the conference chairman said "The first day had witnessed a record attendance of delegates, and speakers.

DUPHAT had implemented for the first time a new technology for automated recording of the attendance to award CE Credit hours and enhance the credibility f the system. The specialized lectures and the posters presented by the enthusiastic students of the local colleges were highly recommended.

The conference is a big boost for the profession and it has created a base on which we are encouraged to progress further. The research and leadership in pharmacy practice was the thematic focus of attention for day one. New exhibits were also presented in the technology session."

Dr. Hubert G Leufkens, Chairman of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Utrecht University said

"It becomes almost a tradition that Utrecht University is again well repreŽsented at DUPHAT 2009. It is a great pleasure and honour for our university to participate in such a prestigious event, DUPHAT is a very recognised event in the pharmaceutical sciences and practice in the Middle-East and beyond. The conference has gained sincere recognition through stimulating lectures, topics and latest pharmaceutical science and practice."


Professor Albert Wertheimer said 'This is the fourth time I participate in DUPHAT conference and exhibition; Dubai has reached a prestigious place due to the medical exhibition it is hosting on an annual basis. It is amazing how each year the Congress exceeds the accomplishments achieved in previous years. And this year, expert's from Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia made high presence at the conference."

He continued; "In DUPHAT 2009, I am presenting a lecture on "Meeting Society's Future Needs" the conference is a great opportunity for students and professors to interact with other participants and exchange ideas and experience".

Pharmaceutical posters will be evaluated today by a specialised jury; posters displayed tackles health in general and spread awareness among society to upgrade their health culture. 10 students will be announced winners tomorrow for their poster participation, and shall receive certificates.

Dr. Osama Tabara from King Fahad Medical City - Saudi Arabia said; "developing useful training programs is essential to guarantee that pharmacists become more specialised in intravenous therapy, it is also essential to redesign he pharmaceutical curriculum of the educational courses and provide intensive training.

Studies had proved that the intravenous solutions prepared by nurses may lead to serious medical mistakes which might affect the chances of infection at hospitals. In addition, the pharmacist should be familiar with various ways of giving intravenous treatments.

Mr. Mohie Al Deen ben Hindi, president of Serum indo Gulf L.L.C, which is one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world said "it is essential for us to participate in DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition, as all prestigious pharmaceutical companies and pharmacists are present there.

DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition in itself is a great chance for us to promote our products and services in the UAE and GCC market. We are actually proud to be part of this community that provides millions with better life and health."
