- PRESS RELEASE
Balenciaga and Al Mana Luxury Company are pleased to announce the opening of Balenciaga's first free standing boutique in Doha located at The Pearl Porto Arabia, Doha, Qatar, on February 9th, 2009.
This new store will carry Balenciaga's women's ready-to-wear and accessories collections designed by Nicolas Ghesquière creative director of the House.
Each Balenciaga store around the world draws upon the central concept of an artificial landscape echoing the geometric, graphic feeling of the collections. The store concept is unique, each time adapting to the specific space and environment of the store location.
The Doha Balenciaga boutique represents 145 square meters all on one floor, with a large VIP area that can be isolated from the main retail floor.
The concept of the store uses the iconic language and materials inherent in all Balenciaga stores, but as all designs are considered individual, a fresh uniqueness is found in each of the stores.
The Doha store uses a contrast of hard metallic surfaces that are finely engineered and contrasted with the soft rich carpet & furnishings. The stone flooring, similar to most of the flagship stores around the world, uses a signature layout of hexagonal stone.
For the Doha store, the stones are in 'jaune de valance'. The hexagonal theme is also found in the lighting, display niches & the door handles.
This new boutique is yet another step forward in Balenciaga's worldwide retail expansion program. All boutique concepts are developed by Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic Director of the house in conjunction with the celebrated French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster.
Al Mana Luxury Company is owned and operated by Hisham Saleh Al Mana, Kamal Saleh Al Mana, and Wissam Saleh Al Mana, sons of the late Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana.
