ASPCL reminds residents of the need for prompt payment of sewerage fees
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, March 31 - 2009 at 10:58
- PRESS RELEASE
Ajman Municipality issued earlier this year a public ordinance (Local Order No. 2 of 2009) which prohibited the suction of sewage from septic tanks as well as its removal and disposal through tankers.
Following Local Order No. 2 of 2009, Ajman Municipality recently issued Local Order No. 4 of 2009, which urges residents and property owners to speed up completion of the procedures relative to the linking of their properties to the Emirate's new sewerage network.
It also stipulates the payment of fines by property owners who fail to pay the sewerage fees or tariffs they owe as a result of their property being linked to the new sewerage network. Moreover, the value of these fines increases directly in proportion to the delay in payment of the dues.
In light of the above ordinances, ASPCL just issued an urgent appeal to Ajman's residents and property owners to complete the connection of their properties to the new sewerage system as soon as possible.
This will enable them to benefit from the services of the Emirate's new network, cancelling thereby the need to use septic tanks while allowing them to get rid of bad odors caused by traditional sewage suction operations.
This improvement will in turn reflect positively on the city's public health, cleanliness and environment, further enhancing the Emirate's image. Any delay to do so will, in light of the recent decision to ban tankers, cause major environment problems and inconvenience to the residents, due to the absence of alternative means of sewage disposable.
