- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, March 31 - 2009 at 14:22
- PRESS RELEASE
Department of Transport, Abu Dhabi announced that the Ojra passes for the month of April have gone on sale in ten locations across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The new Ojra passes now come in improved plastic material, in order to make them durable and capable of enduring hot and humid weather conditions. Earlier, the cards were issued in paper-type material.
DoT has also introduced a new visual - an image of Emirates Palace Hotel - for the April Ojra passes. The image will change every month, in order to differentiate the cards.
Further, the April Ojra passes are produced in a new colour - amber—as part of DoT's plan to have a distinct colour for each month of the year, for easier differentiation. The March passes were maroon in colour and carried the picture of a young Emirati girl.
Mr. Saeed Al Hameli, General Manager - Bus Office, DoT, praised the public for welcoming the Ojra fare structure, and said DoT will make extra efforts to ensure that Ojra passes are accessible to all through more locations across the emirate.
"We have received encouraging feedback from bus commuters, ever since the bus public bus travel became a paid service from February 15, 2009," said Al Hameli. "We are pleased to introduce the new-look plastic Ojra cards that are sturdy, and will be able to withstand rough use and adverse weather conditions."
Department of Transport, Abu Dhabi, has created an affordable fare structure for bus transport.
