Hirotaka Mima, Passenger Vehicle Brand Manager at Nissan Middle East, commented:
"The Nissan Altima offers a strong blend of performance, style and value and it's gratifying that it is being recognised and selected for this award by Consumers Digest."
The 50 cars, pickups, minivans, SUVs and hybrids selected as 2009 Best Buys out of over 200 available models are those offering the most value for the money in their respective vehicle classes. The concept of "value," is based on a vehicle's purchase price and ownership costs relative to subjective factors like comfort, performance, styling and utility.
The 2009 Nissan Altima boasts an array of advanced features such as Nissan's 'intelligent key' with push button ignition, built-in hands-free Bluetooth, 9-speaker Bose audio system with iPod connection, dual-zone automatic climate control and steering wheel-mounted controls for Bluetooth, Audio and Cruise control.
The Altima's new generation Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is designed to deliver a smooth, responsive, fluid-feeling performance feel with efficient operation. A choice of two engines are available to specify with the CVT transmission - either a 2.5-litre 188hp four cylinder engine or a brawny 3.5-litre 285hp V6 engine.
To create one of the most durable cars in the industry, Nissan has put the Altima through over 5000 quality and performance tests. These include the High-speed Oval Track, Slalom, Pothole, Stone Road, Frame Twist, Dust Intrusion, Chipper, Door Cycle, Heat and Salt Water tests. Based on the results of these analyses, Nissan has produced a vehicle built to survive the most extreme conditions, enhancing its envied reputation for durability, quality, and reliability.
