Former college director Norman Gray who was the first director of the college for 14 years, has flown from Canada to attend this unique event. Many graduates who are holding currently key corporate positions, such as Mr. Saeed Al Naboodah and Mr. Abdulbaset Al Janahi and many others, are among high profile attendees.
The event includes five major activities which start with an opening ceremony by HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan. This features one student from each of the twenty years of the college's history. Showcasing creativity in academic performance, the program will have an exhibition for visitors to preview student projects and learning activities that represent all academic programs, including a history of DMC students and significant events over the past 20 years.
In the afternoon, the program entitled, "Challenges & Entertainment" will showcase collegial activities, team building challenges and entertainment alongside various clubs demonstrations and activities.
The graduation ceremony for the academic year 2007/8 batch, will be held in the early afternoon. Graduates, as the tradition goes, will receive their certificates from Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor and an alumnus of the college. The celebration will end with an Exhibition Football match between DMC Team and Al Shabab Club team.
During the event, HE Shaikh Nahayan will sign a memorandum of understanding along with Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality to further their cooperation for the betterment of DMC students and their future employments in addition to announce the Academic Chair in Engineering by Dubai Municipality.
"DMC is the result of the efforts given by students, faculty and staff. They were devoted to achieving these goals set by HE Shaikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan in his quest for quality and excellence in an education system designed to promote the application of knowledge to meet the manpower needs of the UAE,"
said Norman Gray on this occasion.
