Guests were treated to a truly unique and inspiring experience as the resort was lit by the magnificent glow of candlelight.

All non-emergency power was switched off, at the same time as millions of others did so around the world to support the WWF initiative to combat climate change.

Speaking of the initiative Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay General Manager Rochelle Kilgariff commented, "We wanted to show our commitment to the environment as well as to lead the way in showing individuals and businesses how easy it is to make a difference in the fight against global warming, which is something that affects us all and our future generations."

She added, "The initiative was a huge success, with guests and hosts alike making the most of the experience and many requesting we make Earth Hour a regular feature. We're thrilled that we've been able to do our bit contribute, helping people understand how they can make a positive impact against climate change and providing a unique experience for all involved."

Guests were treated to an evening of tranquillity, with a special candlelit BBQ by with food from Zighy Bay's organic garden.

Many guests took the time to relax and reflect during candlelit yoga, offering a uniquely Zen experience, whilst others were treated to live music and dining under the stars from the resort's hosts.

Six Senses core purpose is to create innovative and enlightening experiences that rejuvenate our guests' love of Slow Life.

The values communicated in the Slow Life commitment, positions Six Senses as the leader in providing sustainable tourism options for consumers, suppliers and partners.

From the use of building materials and finishes from sustainable and local sources wherever possible, to the quality and origin of the food that is offered, and to the innovative experiences that not only are fun, but also heighten guest's knowledge.

Reduction of carbon footprints that result from transporting goods over long distances is a prime component of Slow Life, as is the sourcing of prime produce from local communities. Chemical free organic options also result in more wholesome offerings and enhanced flavours. Keeping guests informed of these initiatives teaches them how to reflect the philosophy into their own lives, and how these intelligent alternatives benefits them individually, and our planet as a whole.

Kilgariff concluded, "We take our commitmen towards helping the environment very seriously and will continue to support such initiatives which enable us to make a difference, individually, as a business and as a member of the local community."
