The Qatargas exhibition being held at the Doha corniche is attracting large numbers of visitors every day.
The exhibition explains the process by which liquefied natural gas (LNG) is produced and highlights the many pioneering achievements associated with the Qatargas 2 project.
The two new LNG production trains, each with a capacity of 7.8 million tonnes per annum are the largest ever to be ever built and utilize many innovative technologies that are firsts for the LNG industry.
The new generation LNG carriers are also the largest and most advanced in the world. Qatargas 2 is the largest and most technologically advanced LNG project to be ever executed.
The exhibition has already attracted thousands of visitors. In addition to the general public, students from various schools and colleges in Doha have been invited to visit the exhibition.
On 2nd April, a special tour of the exhibition was arranged for the latest batch of Qatargas' young national recruits. They were among the candidates who were hired by the Company at the Qatargas career fair held on 7th March.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the fresh recruits with Qatargas 2, the world's first fully integrated value chain LNG project.
Mr. Ghanim Al-Kuwari, Qatargas Chief Operating Officer Administration said, "The exhibition provides information on what Qatargas does and explains the vital role of LNG in meeting the world's energy demand. It also explains the many uses and applications of LNG and associated products and the benefits that gas and associated technologies have brought to the Qatari people and to others around the world."
"We are trying to generate awareness among the people of Qatar, particularly the younger generation about the importance of LNG in Qatar's future and the significant contribution the LNG industry will make in bringing prosperity to the nation for generations," Al-Kuwari added.
The exhibition was created as part of Qatargas' ongoing commitment to education and community engagement and in anticipation of the inauguration of Qatargas 2 scheduled to take place at Ras Laffan on April 6th.
Qatargas 2 is capable of supplying up to 20% of the UK's natural gas needs. It involves the development of two world-class LNG trains, three storage tanks, power utilities and water injection systems, and a fleet of 14 state of the art liquefied natural gas tankers.
The $13bn investment in this project will bring prosperity to the country and its citizens for many years to come.
