The campaign is based on global nutritional recommendations and was developed by the Anchor Institute in New Zealand. The institute is a network of nutritionists and experts who use scientific research to establish strategic campaigns aimed at improving children's health.
The Anchor Nutrition Check up campaign also provides parents with expert advice on how to implement a strong nutrition regime for their child, in addition to emphasizing the importance of sleep and regular physical activity.
Mr. Mohammed Korayem, Anchor Market Manager, Fonterra, Saudi Arabia, said:
"Mothers are naturally pro-active towards their child's wellbeing and we are very glad to lend a helping hand whenever possible. The Anchor Nutrition Check up campaign is an awareness tool for every mother to use in order to maintain or establish her child's optimum health and mental development."
Children will have their height measured on a growth chart and their body composition will be calculated using the Anchor Institute Body Analyzer, a machine which accurately determines the amount of fat, muscle and mineral content in a child's body.
Once the test results are finalized, a nutrition expert discusses the child's results with the parent/s, offering recommendations to help them maintain or establish optimum health and mental development for their child.
Saudi Arabia is the first country in the Middle East to host this campaign on a much wider scale due to the success of pilot campaigns that were organized last year in Jordan, Bahrain and Dubai. The campaign will kick start on the 6th of April in most of the major malls in Jeddah and Riyadh.
