Dubai Press Club has announced the launch of the official website for the 8th Arab Media Forum.

Journalists wanting to participate in the Forum can now register for the event on the website.

The Arab Media Forum will take place on May 11-12, 2009 at Atlantis Hotel in Palm Jumeirah, culminating in the distribution of the Arab Journalism Awards on the second day of the event.

Well over 600 media persons from around the Arab world and beyond are expected to attend the Forum this year, in addition to 55 eminent speakers from diverse fields, including political leaders, economists and internationally renowned media experts.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director, Dubai Press Club, said that the timely launch of the website was meant to keep pace with the soaring popularity and importance of the Forum.

"We are aiming it attracting as wide a representation as possible from across the media sector in the Arab world, including the New Media. The website will serve as a source of continuously updated information on the Forum and the program details, beside facilitating participation from media persons across the spectrum,"

she explained.

She said the website would also welcome recommendations, comments and opinions from the members and media enthusiasts. "We have also uploaded three interactive sites on Face Book in both English and Arabic, titled Dubai Press Club, Arab Media Forum and Arab Journalism Award respectively. This is in addition to the information-packed websites of the Dubai Press Club (www.dpc.org.ae) and Arab Journalism Award (www.arabjournalismaward.ae)," she added.

The Press Club has also launched transmission channels on You Tube, allowing users to watch the various media events held at the Club as well as the previous editions of the Arab Media Forum. The proceedings of the 8th Media Forum will also be transmitted on these channels soon after the sessions have concluded.
