2009's launch of Panasonic's revolutionary air conditioners offer beauty with performance, and boast numerous attractive features: a brand new super sleek design, increased air flow, healthier air - the result of further innovation in its purifying system - and powerful cooling boosted by the use of a super tropical compressor.

Packaged in a new, super-slim eco-friendly design, 2009's air conditioners offer 15% more airflow than last year's models and effectively cool the searing temperatures of the Middle East, even when temperatures reach up to 55 degrees Celsius.

"The rising global summer temperatures, especially in the Middle East, necessitated our technology design teams to develop systems that are capable of putting out higher airflow, as better and faster cooling have become the need of the hour," says Yasushi Sugita, Product Manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.

Panasonic's state-of-the-art compressors offer durability and unsurpassed performance, having been designed to withstand the most extreme climatic conditions.

"Yet while extremely powerful, Panasonic's deluxe models offer an extremely vital feature for any person who has the need for a cooling system: quiet operation. On the technical side we have also included a bigger cross flow fan to assist greater air flow. But this does not imply a compromise on slim appearance," says Sugita.

This year's models have a unique horizontal rounded form that provides a slim, neat look. The revolutionary new form increases the depth in the body's centre for bigger air volume, while simultaneously reducing depth at both ends.

The smooth, flush surface design not only offers an aesthetically pleasing and refined appearance from all angles, but the ventless intake grille also makes it easy to clean.

In addition to enhanced beauty and increased cooling power, Panasonic continued further fine-tuning its quest to a healthier environment.

"Panasonic is one of the leading forces in the global air conditioning market," Sugita says. "In 2007 we presented the world's first simultaneous air purifying and cooling system. The following year we increased air purifying efficiency by 10%, and this year we are delighted at a 15% purification increase level compared to our first model."

As atmospheric pollution, such as dust particles that cause a multitude of allergies among young and old alike, becomes an increasingly serious health threat, more people are thinking about purchasing an air purifier to enhance indoor air quality.

The advanced e-ion air purification system employed by Panasonic discharges active e-ions (three trillion to be exact) to capture dust. The unique system uses the attractive force between negatively charged dust particles and a positively charged filter to powerfully remove dust and hygienically clean the air.

Some models offer a new 'patrol sensor' that constantly monitors air and detects dirt in a room. The sensor changes colour as a telltale sign of how dirty the air in the room is.

The sensor gauges cigar smoke, cooking odours, human body odour, as well as pet odours, and even garbage odours. Once impurities are detected, the advanced technology of the purification systems kicks in and cleans the air.
