European firms in joint Iraq bid

Norway's StatoilHydro, Spain's Repsol and Denmark's Maersk are preparing a joint bid to build a 50,000-bpd oil processing plant at West Qurna, Iraq's biggest oilfield. Tender documents indicate that bids must be received by April 23; however the three European companies have not yet made a final decision to go ahead. West Qurna has estimated reserves of around 8.68 billion barrels of crude oil.
