IBM was awarded the Superbrands status in recognition of the strength of its brand, which encompasses everything from its marketing, products and technology through to the end-user experience. Recognition as a Superbrand is voted by the Superbrands Council, which is made up of eminent figures from the region's marketing and branding industry.

"We are very proud to receive this award. The IBM brand is about trust, reliability, quality and scope. It's about the heritage we can call on and the innovation we can provide to our customers in the Middle East," said Rashid Wally, Director of Operations, IBM Middle East Egypt and Pakistan. "IBM truly appreciates the efforts of the Superbrands organization in setting a benchmark that pays tribute to exceptional brands, as well as promoting the creation of brands that represent true quality and value in this region."

IBM is an undisputed leader in the creation, development and manufacture of some of the industry's most advanced information technologies, including computer systems (personal computers and servers), software, networking systems, storage devices, microelectronics and consulting services. Having established its first presence in the Middle East more than 50 years ago, one of IBM's several achievements was the installation of the region's first mainframe computer at Saudi Aramco. It also supports major Middle East government initiatives and plays a key role in addressing the IT skills shortage across the region by actively implementing long-term initiatives that will provide resources, education and training.
