METS holds Intellectual Property Protection seminar and workshop

The course contents span from the basic criteria of patentability and trademark/copyright protection to the details of the Omani and international intellectual property legislation. Practical examples illustrate how intellectual property information is researched and how IP protection is attained, either nationally or internationally.

The workshop consists of seminar-type presentations in the mornings and discussion sessions in the afternoon. During the event, ample time for networking and the establishment of new contacts will be allocated. The presentations will be delivered Dr. Marco Montrone from the European Patent Office, Munich, Germany, supported by Mr. Ahmed Al-Saidi from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ms. Sarah Hestad from the Curtis, Mellet-Prevost law firm.

Since Oman joined the WTO and is engaging into further free trade agreements, intellectual property protection is becoming more and more important to the Omani industry.

This short course addresses the industrial or administrative professional and provides clear practical knowledge and guidelines on how is intellectual property can be protected. It is the first time that such a workshop takes place in Oman.
