DWC holds Higher Diploma Graduate Evening
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, April 05 - 2009 at 13:40
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Women's College hosted a special Higher Diploma Graduate Evening on 18th March 2009 where recent Higher Diploma graduates were invited back into college to speak to the current crop of Higher Diploma Year 2 students.
Year 2 students have to decide whether to major in Marketing, Financial Services, Accounting, Human Resources or Tourism and Event Management.
The event was extremely helpful to all the participants as it allowed them to interact in a friendly manner while addressing important issues regarding their choice of career.
Judging by the high noise levels in the main hall, the students and graduates certainly seemed to have a lot to discuss and the enthusiastic reaction from the Year 2 students confirmed that the evening had been a great success.
Sumayya Suhail, a Year 2 General Business student commented that "It was interesting and useful and it helped us to consider other majors and which jobs they could lead to." Indeed, as another Year 2 General Business student, Maryam Mahmood, added "It was also great to find out something about the actual workplace and what it's like."
The Year 2 students will now have to finalise their choice of major over the coming weeks and it would be safe to say that, thanks to the Graduate Evening, they are now in an even better position to make a more informed choice.
The final word goes to Dr. Monica Gallant, Chair of the Business Programs at DWC, who enthused, "Graduate Evening is an excellent opportunity for DWC Higher Diploma graduates to offer career advice to the Business students in year 2 to help them choose their major of study. The informal nature of the event generates a lot of useful discussions that greatly benefit the students."
