Tourism Authority joins Abu Dhabi's Hannover Fair promotion

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, April 06 - 2009 at 11:03
  • PRESS RELEASE

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the apex body which manages the Arabian Gulf emirate's tourism industry, is to exhibit in a major destination promotion at next month's Hannover Fair - the world's largest industrial exhibition.

ADTA has signed on as a sharer in a major Abu Dhabi pavilion being organised by the emirate's Department of Planning & Economy.

The promotion comes as ADTA released figures showing the number of German hotel guests in Abu Dhabi rose 7% last year on 2007 to reach a total of 63,600.

"Though an industrial exhibition with an international profile, Hannover Fair gives us an opportunity to speak directly with the German business community and media and assist in furthering our profile throughout this important market segment," said Mubarak Al Nuaimi, International Promotions Manager, ADTA.

Germany currently ranks as the third largest source market for Abu Dhabi's hotel guests - last year accounting for 5% of the 1.5 million guests staying in the emirate's hotels and hotel apartments.

"Germany ranks third after the UK, which produced 112,200 hotel guests for us last year and India, which accounted for 72,100," said Al Nuaimi. "Our commitment to the German market is unswerving."

ADTA will also participate in the Global Business Forum running alongside the Hannover Fair during a one-day Abu Dhabi Economic Forum Partners Meeting planned for April 21.

"We hope to present Abu Dhabi's multi-faceted proposition as an emerging leisure and cultural destination of distinction, a thriving and expanding international business centre and the happening place for business tourism," added Al Nuaimi.
