Academic chair in engineering by Dubai Municipality in Higher Colleges of Technology

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, signed a cooperation agreement with His Excellency Engineer Hussein Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

This cooperation agreement was signed in view of the interest of Dubai Municipality in increasing the efficiency of its human resources and performance through education and continued training so as to ensure client satisfaction with its improved services, and in view of the interest of the Higher Colleges of Technology in establishing strategic partnerships to serve the UAE society and providing scholarships for Dubai Municipality staff.

His Excellency Engineer Hussein Nasser Lootah said that this agreement is in line with the Dubai Municipality plan to increase its cooperation programs with universities and colleges that offer specialized training programs and give priority in reservation of academic seats to its employees to join programs related to municipality affairs.

Lootah emphasized that this agreement aims to achieve several objectives that ensure cooperation between Dubai Municipality and HCT in the various areas of common interest, mainly academic studies, qualification and training of human resources, organizing seminars and other cultural activities, and knowing the abilities and available resources of each party, such as expertise, equipment, and exchange of information and scientific research.

Under this agreement Dubai Municipality agrees to contribute to the HCT Foundation 500,000 dirhams annually for a period of three years effective from the date that the agreement is signed.

The Higher Colleges of Colleges shall be committed to allocating an academic seat for Dubai Municipality in Structural Engineering, involving Municipality staff in the activities, lectures and conferences organized annually inside and outside the college, organizing at least two seminars, conferences and workshops annually for the purpose of ensuring professional and personal development for Municipality staff, and granting scholarships for the Municipality as will be agreed at a later date between the two parties.

The Higher Colleges of Colleges shall also provide Dubai Municipality with data on graduates for onward training and qualification for employment with the Municipality and provide the Municipality with four studies and specialized researches annually on the activities and functions of the organizational units of Dubai Municipality so as to ensure improved institutional efficiency.

For the purposes of coordination between both parties in implementing this agreement, Dubai Municipality will appoint a permanent representative in the HCT student council for liaison between both parties.

This agreement shall take effect on the date that it is signed and shall be valid for a period of three years, unless either party gives a one-year notice of its desire to terminate it.
