Oman's World Expo 2010 stand approved

With the theme of 'Better City - Better Life' and held every five years, the Chinese city of Shanghai will host the World Expo from 1 May through to 31 October 2010.
HE Mohsin Al Balushi, Adviser at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Commissioner General of the Sultanate's participation at Shanghai 2010 described the event as a cultural and commercial extravaganza and promised Oman's pavilion will draw international attention to "The Sultanate's rich culture and history as well as showcase Oman's creativity, innovation and expertise."
The original World Expo was held in London in 1851, with the most recent event taking place in Aichi, Japan, in 2005. Designed by Singapore-based City Neon, Oman's World Expo pavilion will be built over two floors and cover approximately 2,000 square metres.
His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, CEO, Oman Brand Management Unit (OBMU) and member of the Shanghai 2010 Technical Committee added, "Running from May to October 2010, the Shanghai World Expo offers us the chance to tell the world about the fantastic transformation taking place in Oman. It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase our businesses, skills and enterprise to the global market."
According to the OBMU CEO - who with his team, will co-ordinate the participation of government and private sector organizations in the Shanghai Expo - "The benefits will be enormous. It's a great opportunity for the Sultanate's private and public sector to pull together and demonstrate just how successful we can be in attracting new investment and talent to Oman."
Sayyid Faisal went on to add, "Oman's cities are growing at a pace and we're tackling issues such as education, science and technology, transport, responsible tourism and sustainable development. In this regard, we've so much to say at Shanghai. It will also be a great learning experience for us."
