General Commander of Dubai Police launches Third Annual Scientific Quality Congress, Middle East 2009

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Patron of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, General Commander of Dubai Police, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University launched The Third Annual Scientific Quality Congress, Middle East 2009, today at the Dubai Scientific and Cultural Association.

In this occasion, HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim said:
"The Third Annual Scientific Quality Congress, Middle East 2009, comes to discuss the most important quality management concerns, in a scientific framework that targets performance of both individuals and organizations."


"This is the third Quality congress we organize; it is a milestone for us at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University to organize this year's congress, as it is the first time for us to organize it under the umbrella of the university," he added.

The first day of this congress witnessed a large number of participation by experts, in quality management and excellence, such as Dr. Armand Val Feigenbaum, known as the "Father of Total Quality Control", Dr. Gregory Watson, President of International Academy for Quality - IAQ, and a number of national leaders and young executives from various organizations and individuals interested in the field of excellence and Quality Management.

The congress also included, several sessions by esteemed experts in the field of excellence and total Quality management such as Prof. Mohammed Zairi, Assistant Vice Chancellor Strategy and Growth, who discussed the search of the customer: excellence tetralogy, Dr. Tito Conti from Italy, who held a presentation on how excellence models should be adapted in various cultures, And Mr. Steve Unwin from the UK, who discussed the role of paradox and uncertainty in success.

Implementations of total Quality Management in the UAE were also discussed at the first day of this congress by Dr. Wafi Dawood, Mr. Shawqi Sajwani and Mr. Abdul Qader Obeid Ali.

The first day of the Third Annual Scientific Quality Congress, Middle East 2009, also included workshops and panel discussion tackling sustainable development strategies, quality measurement, new paradigms in knowledge management, and methodologies in Systemic self assessment in education. The winner of the Harrington Award for the best Project was also announced during the congress, the award went to Brigadier Saeed Al Hanki, chief of the Police Judicial Council, Ministry of Interior.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University is organizing this congress in partnership with Berkley University, The International Academy for Quality Association IAQ, and Middle East Quality Association, and under the platinum sponsorship of DEWA, the golden sponsorship of Damas, the Silver sponsorship of Emirates NBD and Department of tourism and commerce Marketing, and in the support of Dubai International Academic City, SUKAD, enPark and Zarca interactive.

Through organizing this conference Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University aims to emphasize its continuous support to quality and excellence that are the basis for all its work.
