Hatem Dowidar, new CEO of Vodafone Egypt

Vodafone Egypt announced that starting July 2009, CEO Richard Daly will be returning to the UK to assume the role of CEO of Vodafone Partner Markets, and Hatem Dowidar, currently CEO of Partner Markets, will succeed Richard as CEO of Vodafone Egypt.

The Vodafone Group announcement, acknowledged both Richard and Hatem for the outstanding achievements in their current and previous roles in Vodafone Group.

Richard Daly started his work in Vodafone Egypt in 2005 as Chief Commercial Officer, and was then appointed as CEO in 2007. Under his leadership Vodafone business in Egypt witnessed exceptional growth. The Company's customer base has grown from 5m to 19m. Vodafone Egypt continues to be the market leader in revenue, network quality and innovation.

Hatem Dowidar has 18 years of remarkable multinational experience including 10 years in executive management with Vodafone, of which he spent 5 years in senior positions in Vodafone Group outside Egypt. Hatem Dowidar joined Vodafone in 1999 as the Marketing Director for the Egypt business. In 2004, he moved to the Vodafone Headquarters in the UK as the Global Director of Voice Propositions.

Subsequently, he moved to Malta for two years as CEO of Vodafone Malta before returning in summer 2007 to the UK as CEO of Partner Markets for the Group. In this role he managed the extension of the Vodafone Brand and Products and services to over 45 countries.

This announcement proves Vodafone's Group trust in the competence of the Egyptian talent, who are assuming critical roles in different Vodafone operating companies as well as in Vodafone's headquarters in the UK.
